    Picking up where we left off last week…recently crowned “Mr. X” of the Year, Ben May and I sat down to answer ALL of YOUR questions.  The interview wraps up today with Ben discussing:

  • THE ATHLEAN-X BEN MAY INTERVIEW – PART 1

    Not since the Beattles Invasion from has the arrival of someone from the UK created such a stir!  OK, well…that may be a slight exaggeration there!  But seriously, as you guys have proved…Ben May and his amazing transformation have rightfully deserved a lot of attention in the past few days.  As the newly crowned “MR. X” of the Year, I figured what an amazing opportunity it would be to have you be able to ask Ben YOUR questions.

    As I’ve said here many times, it’s great to be able to inspire you out there to take action on your fitness and to create completely different physiques than you find yourself in today by doing the most cutting edge and effective workouts that I can put out there for you.  However, that said, sometimes I know you feel that all of this comes way too easy to me (given that after all, it’s something I do for a living!).  While I definitely don’t agree that it comes easy (because I certainly still train my butt off all the time…as witnessed by the borderline insane attack of the hill from hell last week!), I do think that it is a great benefit to be able to learn from others who sit in the same position as you, trying to burn fat and build muscle as quickly as possible....and possibly being brand new to AthLEAN Training.

    That person was Ben.

    As you’ll see in Part 1 of this interview, Ben talks about what made him decide to start AthLEAN-X Training the very first time he saw it, what modifications he made to his diet and nutrition RIGHT AWAY and was able to sustain for the entire 90 days, and what he had been doing before AthLEAN-X to try and keep in shape (but was unfortunately failing).  Without any more delay.  Let’s get the answers straight from the mouth of “Mr. X” as we start part 1 of the three part series this week.  Don’t forget to listen to all three parts as there is a big announcement coming at the end of the interview as well!

  • ASK BEN MAY YOUR ATHLEAN-X QUESTIONS!

    Ben May Transformation Some of you might know the story of Ben May by now.  You might remember the young man from England from a few months ago, when I showcased his transformation in an email I sent out.  Well…things just got better for Ben as he has officially been named the first annual “Mr. X” of the Year!

    Not only was Ben’s transformation incredible as witnessed by these numbers:

    Initial Weight = 196 lbs

    Weight after 90 days = 160 lbs

    Initial Waist = 36 inches

    Weight after 90 days = 30 inches

    Initial Body Fat = 22%

    Body Fat after 90 days = 7%

    But in his own words, I think he sums up what this program has meant to him:

    “Its now 3 months after i completed the Athlean-X regime. And i can tell you that the results are permanent. I still work out 4 or 5 times a week and eat 6 times a day but i have become slightly more relaxed about my diet. I still stick clear of all simple sugars but foods such as white bread and cereals with slightly higher sugar levels i don’t mind eating. Essentially i am not quite so selective and i allow some foods that i may not have allowed initially. The great news though, is that it doesn’t make a bit of difference now! My metabolism has changed. I gave it 3 months to  transform and it did exactly that. I am now 157lbs and with a body fat of 6% and I have never been more pleased. If you want results fast and ones that will last i guarantee you if you put 100% into this programme it will work!

    Notice the determination.  Ben wanted this badly.  He set a goal of being sick and tired of carrying around the excess body fat and he wanted to quit being self conscious about how he looked with his shirt off.  He felt he was way too young to supposed to be worrying about that….and I couldn’t agree more!  He put the 100% in that he mentioned, didn’t let anything get in the way, and the results above speak for themselves.

    But that’s not even the best part!  No…the best part is that NOW…YOU’RE GOING TO BE ABLE TO STEAL BEN’S SECRETS!!

    Yes…you can copy the little tricks and tips that Ben used to Conquer the “X” on his way to shedding 15% bodyfat from his frame and adding pounds of lean muscle! Here’s how.  With Ben May set to arrive in CT this weekend to meet me personally and spend two days training together (just one of the many perks of being named the Mr. X of the Year!), I decided that I am going to open up the floor to YOUR questions.  Yes, I know that some of you think that I look the way I do because I do this for a living and I HAVE to look good.  And…you’d be 100% right.  But on the other hand, Ben is not.  He is a student, has a busy study schedule…has gym equipment limitations.  He’s what you would call the normal, average guy.  Well, if you can relate to that (and the struggles that go along with being that guy), then you’ve got to take the 40 seconds it will take for you to write Ben a quick question about anything…to try and pick his brain about how he achieved his suXXess on the program!

  • 6 SIX PACK ABS KILLERS YOU MUST AVOID IF YOU WANT BEACH BODY ABS THIS SUMMER!

    Yeah, this guy definitely looks angry.  And I probably would be too if I had a belly like that!  Sure he’s got a six pack but it’s not necessarily the kind you or I would want to be walking around with when we hit the beach.  If you want a real six pack, you know…six pack abs, then you better start doing something about it.  Actually you better STOP doing certain things that are preventing you from getting it.  Six things to be exact.

    Here’s the deal.

    If you want to get a set of abs that will make people stop and take notice then you have to stop and take notice of what you might be doing that has been costing you your shot of getting them all along.  I want to lay out what I feel are the 6 biggest offenders that most guys are guilty of when it comes to “six pack sabotage”.  Some you may be glad to hear, others you may hate to hear, but at least you’ll know you’re getting the truth (as I always promise to deliver to you guys)…and that makes it much easier to accept and do something about.  So that said, let’s put the hit on the 6  Six Pack Abs Killers so we can put them to rest once and for all and carve out a granite like midsection in just weeks.

    #1 – YOU REALLY WANT A  SIX PACK (EXCEPT THIS IS THE ONE THAT COMES IN A CAN!)

    I know.  Get the hard one out of the way right away.  Guys…as much as you may like a cold one (or ten) every now and again, especially as the hot days of the Summer come rolling in…you’re not doing yourself or your gut any favors.  I don’t care about light beer options or the argument that vodka has less sugar than other alcohols.  The point is liquid calories are usually trouble calories.  Not only can you consume them in a flash, but often the calories you pound along with the beer (peanuts, chips, dip, etc) only double the inches you pack on the paunch.  Trade in the beer for some diet soda, seltzer (if you want the bubbles without the blubber) or just some good old fashioned water with lemon for some taste.

    #2  CARBPHOBIA

    The rage these days is to treat carbs as the enemy and avoid them at all costs when pursuing six pack abs.  Crazy and ironic.  Ironic because if you are actually trying to cut down on belly fat then carbs are the last thing you want to cut out.  Instead, target the fats!  With over two times as many calories per gram as carbs, fats pack a much more powerful punch to the gut when it comes to adding pounds to the gut.  That said, limit the obvious offenders like cakes, sweets, ice cream, sodas, etc.  These carbs are nothing by empty calories.

    #3  HOLD THE FRIES!

    You know how often I see a guy try to order healthy and then screw it up with the sides that he orders?  Far too many times to count.  They’ll go to a deli and get a grilled chicken sandwich on wheat bread with lettuce, tomato and cucumbers.  Then they’ll get a side of fries and a soda!  Might as well have had the Philly Cheesesteak!  What may seem like harmless little side dishes can have a huge impact on your waistline.  Repeating this sin over and over and over again adds up…and NOT in a good way.  You’ll see nothing but inches add to your waist if you don’t get this idea quick!

    #4  SKIP BREAKFAST AND DIE (WELL….MAYBE NOT DIE BUT GET FAT FOR SURE!)

    It has been shown that the person that starts their day off with a nice healthy breakfast has a much better chance of keeping their sugar stabile throughout the day and therefore can be expected to lose fat more efficiently.  Skipping the morning meal puts your blood sugar behind the eight ball and makes it almost impossible to catch up as you try for the rest of the day but unfortunately are running a losing race.

    #5  YOU’RE NOT CHEWING GUM!

    Studies have shown that those that chew gum after or before each meal have been shown to not only consume less calories throughout the day but also burn more calories at rest.  And think, you’re parents and teachers didn’t want you to chew the “garbage” when you were growing up.  Now you can blame them for the extra pudge you’re carrying around the middle.

    #6  BURNING THE CANDLE AT BOTH ENDS WILL KEEP YOU FROM BURNING FAT!

    Kids will be kids.  Stay up late.  Get up early for school.  Lack a steady schedule of sleep and ultimately….pay dearly for it.  A lack of sleep has not only shown a decreased ability to concentrate, but also impaired driving and premature neuromuscular failure.  It’s this last one that has us most concerned (though I can’t say we’re comfortable with the idea of you being on the road the same time as I am!).  Bad muscle failure wiring means that you can’t accurately push the muscle to fatigue without first knowing that it will be able to overcome the challenge ahead of it.  Remember, muscles like to know what’s coming and prepare for it.  Stay up late, get up early and not only will you confuse your own self with what the “right” information is…but your muscles will be confused into no growth at the expense of variety!
