We Interrupt this Broadcast for an important announcement….
One of the most commonly cited excuses (I mean…reasons) given for not working out is…”I just don’t have the time“. With the hectic pace that we all find ourselves in these days juggling career, family, health and hobby it’s an understandable complaint…BUT, not good enough! Why? New research was just released that states the average person watches 35 hours of television a week!! 35 H-O-U-R-S!! Read the rest of this entry »

If you’re familiar with the AthLEAN-X philosophy you realize that I believe the human body responds best to short (but intense) efforts in the gym…all the while, making sure not to tiptoe across that fine line into overtraining. It’s a delicate balance and a slippery slope you walk, but done correctly…the rewards are incredible. Read the rest of this entry »

Oh no…you knew it was coming sooner or later didn’t you?!? From the first resurfacing of the newly named “Xecutioner” last Monday, it was only a matter of time before he was back to answer the question he posed long long ago on this blog about the viability of cheat days (and more importantly…their impact on your six pack success!)
Well…as is quickly becoming customary when the Xecutioner makes an appearance, you may want to hide the women and children and strap on the bullet proof vest because I have a feeling he is going to come out firing here! Read the rest of this entry »

Blog, Motivation, Workout Tips.
I have to admit guys. It’s not EVERYDAY that I feel like I’ve got the energy to put in my best effort to get an incredible workout in. I know…to some this may come as a shock, but to most…you’re probably thinking “whew…that makes me feel better”! The fact of the matter is that sometimes I’m just plain tired and my late hours spent writing my blog (which I love doing by the way!) can tend to catch up with me! So what do I do? For me, skipping workouts is NOT an option. I just don’t feel like it’s the answer (unless you’re sick of course or that you’re following some other training program that never gives you a sensible day off to recover!)
So instead, I turn to one of the most instant forms of energy I know. No…not some crazy 1,3 Dimethyl loaded preworkout supplement (more on my thoughts about this latest rage in a later post). No, I’m talking about a more “natural” form of motivation and inspiration…..MUSIC! Read the rest of this entry »

BREAKING NEWS: Today, the United States Army has FINALLY decided that it’s time for a change in the way they test the fitness levels of their soldiers! Situps, pushups and the 2 mile run just aren’t enough anymore to produce “combat ready” soldiers in their opinion…and I COULDN’T AGREE MORE! Read the rest of this entry »

I know what you’re thinking. You read the title of this post and said…hmm…maybe Jeff’s had one too many protein shakes. It seems that I may have screwed this one up. Didn’t I mean to say “THE SHOCKING” Serena Williams DVT story?!? Actually, no. Now, don’t get me wrong…I’m no Nostradamus and I have no crystal ball that could have foreseen this taking place, but what I can tell you is that DVT’s or Deep Vein Thromboses are ironically quite common in athletes! While watching the Grammy’s a couple weeks ago I was shocked to see what I thought to be the Incredible Hulk come striding onto the stage to rap alongside Eminem. While it wasn’t Dr. Bruce Banner…it was a Dr…Dr. Dre. Or at least, who the television was telling me was Dr. Dre! You see, growing up, the Dre I knew of started out as the skinny guy with the bad attitude in the 80′s…transformed into the pudgy guy with the bad attitude in the 90′s….and then lost the attitude and apparently the keys to the recording studio at the turn of the century as he disappeared for 10 years only to make his return to the hip hop scene just months ago! #1: Concentrating on Concentration Curls
It’s amazing how often I’ll go into a gym and find guys spending entire workouts concentrating on, well, concentration curls and other “low reward” exercises in hopes of building mountainous biceps. Well, I have to call it as it is…doing this is a waste of your precious gym time. Read the rest of this entry »
